This course explores the methods and frameworks used to assess the social and poverty-related impacts of policies, programs, and projects. It focuses on understanding how social and economic policies affect vulnerable populations, especially in terms of poverty, inequality, and access to basic services. Students will gain the skills to conduct Poverty and Social Impact Assessments (PSIA) to measure and analyze the distributional effects of development interventions. The course covers a range of assessment techniques, including qualitative and quantitative approaches, stakeholder consultations, and participatory methods, enabling students to evaluate how policies impact different social groups and contribute to or reduce poverty. Through case studies and real-world applications, students will learn to design, implement, and analyze PSIA reports, providing valuable insights for policymakers, governments, and international organizations.
